Dr Elizabeth Rowland

A dental graduate of Cardiff University in Wales, owner and principal Dentist Elizabeth moved to Hervey Bay from the United Kingdom in 2007. She designed and opened Aura Dental Centre in 2009. Her interpretation of what a modern dental practice should be quickly established Aura as one of Hervey Bay's premier dental practices, winning it recognition as "The 'Independent Magazine' Health Industry Business of the Year" in 2011 and "the 'People's Choice' Health Industry award" in 2016.

Elizabeth is passionate about communication, education, and understanding patients' needs. She has been unable to practice dentistry for several years due to injury but continues to direct the practice philosophy, ensuring that patients are empowered to make informed choices about their oral health options. She particularly enjoys sharing her wealth of dental knowledge and mentoring our younger dentist, and she is always available to support the Aura team.

Away from work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her husband, young son, and two dogs. She is an avid baker, crafter, and runner. She was proud to complete the world's largest half marathon, "the Great North Run," in the UK in September 2017, raising awareness and donations to support "Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis" in memory of her very much-loved Father.

Dr Andrew Macaulay

Andrew traded Glasgow's cobblestones for Hervey Bay's sandy shores in 2013, bringing his dental expertise and love for adventure along with him. Inspired by his Australian wife, he's now proud to call Queensland home, where he balances his thriving career with family life.

After 11 years at Aura Dental, Andrew's enthusiasm for his work remains strong. He values the clinic's supportive environment, which allows him to focus on providing excellent patient care. His thorough approach, friendly manner, and clear communication have earned him consistently positive patient feedback.

Andrew finds satisfaction in the variety of general dentistry. Treating patients of all ages with diverse needs keeps his work engaging and rewarding. His commitment to dental excellence, combined with a touch of Scottish wit, continues to brighten Hervey Bay smiles.

Outside the clinic, Andrew fully embraces the outdoor Queensland lifestyle. From swimming and playing local football to beach trips and camping with his two daughters, he savours the contrast to his Scottish upbringing.

Dr Simon Shannon

Originally from Northern Ireland, Simon graduated as a dentist in 2015 from Dundee University in Scotland. He spent his first year after graduation working in Scotland before moving to Hervey Bay in 2016 to join the Aura team.

He has fallen in love with Hervey Bay and the lifestyle it provides for him, his wife and two Aussie born kids and considers the location to be his forever home.

Simon enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and particularly enjoys treating children, encouraging good dental habits for a lifetime of happy smiles. He is passionate about helping his patients achieve and maintain a high level of oral health and particularly enjoys performing root canal treatments, when the need arises.

Outside of work Simon enjoys spending time with his family and running after his two children. In his spare time, you will find him out on the golf course enjoying the weather and fresh air while perfecting his game.

Dr Emily Harris

After graduating in the UK, Emily moved to Australia in 2013 in search of less rain and more sun! Since 2016 she now calls Hervey Bay her permanent home.

Emily has built up a reputation in the community for being gentle and very calm with anxious patients. “A dental phobic mother was my first exposure to how much of a barrier anxiety can be when accessing basic dental care “. Luckily Emily had a beautiful dentist role model growing up, who inspired her to pursue her career in dentistry.

Emily enjoys all aspects of dentistry with a special interest in root canal treatments. She recently completed a mini residency in Sydney in 2023 with The Australian Dental Association. Her fastidious nature, attention to detail and desire to invest the time necessary to provide an exceptional outcome for each patient shows through. Emily also offers a range of minimally invasive cosmetic procedures focusing on natural looking aesthetics.

Outside of work Emily enjoys the simple things in life; family, friends and good coffee.

Dr Moon Allen

Moon has been serving the Hervey Bay community since 2020 and joined the Aura team in 2023. She is a graduate of Adelaide University and has lived in Singapore and China prior to calling Australia home. In addition to English, she is also fluent in Mandarin. She married her husband, David, in 2022.

She is a dentist who enjoys building relationships with patients and believes in a patient centred approach and is an enthusiastic advocate of wholistic dentistry where the focus is not only on the teeth but more importantly the whole person. She is especially interested in paediatric dentistry, oral surgery and cosmetic dentistry.

In her free time, she enjoys cross stitch or a game of Sudoku when she isn't busy enjoying the coastal lifestyle.
